5 Activities to Celebrate the Fourth of July Near Centennial

Break out your red, white and blue because it’s that time of year again! What are you going to do to celebrate Independence Day this year? Here are five activities for you to check out for the Fourth of July in and around Menifee near Centennial.

Menifee’s Independence Day Celebration
Want to stay close to home? Join your neighbors for an early celebration at Menifee’s Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Wheatfield Park, just 1.3 miles from Centennial. The festivities start at 4 p.m. and the fireworks start at 9 p.m. Perfect for a family outing, event entry is free and kids have unlimited access to the Kids Zone with a $10 wristband. There will be a parade, over 100 food and craft vendors, a beer garden with local craft beers, live entertainment and, of course, the stunning fireworks finale!

Murrieta’s 28th Annual Birthday Bash
If music is more your thing, check out Murrieta’s 28th Annual Birthday Bash on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Held at California Oaks Sports Park, only 10.3 miles from Centennial, the event is from 2 to 9 p.m. and celebrates the anniversary of the city’s incorporation, as well as the Fourth of July. To cool things down in the summer heat, there will be a firefighters’ hose down at 4 p.m. Next, the live music will begin at 5 p.m., starting with The Remotes covering your favorite TV show theme songs, followed by the ultimate ’80s tribute band, Fast Times, at 7 p.m. And then everyone’s favorite part, the fireworks presentation, will start at 9 p.m. to end the day with a bang!

Dripping Springs Campground
If you’re looking to do something a little different for the holiday, try a weekend adventure at the Dripping Springs Campground, 23.5 miles from Centennial. Adjacent to the Agua Tibia Wilderness, you can hike one of the many trails, camp out in a tent and get in touch with nature. Unplug for a few days and discover more about the world around you. The campground is also near the Temecula Valley Wineries, so you can stop for a tasting on the way home.

Temecula’s Fourth of July Extravaganza
For festivities on Thursday, July 4, 2019, drive south from Centennial for 16 miles and spend the day in Temecula for the city’s 4th of July Extravaganza. The day kicks off with the Star Spangled 4th of July Parade at 10 a.m. Then, the fun continues at Ronald Reagan Sports Park at 2 p.m., where your kids can enjoy the bounce houses, games, face painting and a prize wheel until 8 p.m. with a $5 wristband. The event also includes food vendors and free, live entertainment, with the fireworks show starting at 9 p.m. sharp.

Riverside’s 4th of July Spectacular
If you’re just in it for the fireworks, go a little further from Menifee, and attend Riverside’s annual 4th of July Spectacular aerial fireworks show. There are two locations; you can watch from Mt. Rubidoux or La Sierra Park, 30.8 miles and 33.7 miles from Centennial respectively. The display starts promptly at 9 p.m., and is a free, family-friendly event. Bring your lawn chairs and watch the sky light up!
